Second year-小猪视频dent Mariia Poznakhovska from Ternopil, Ukraine, is exploring her passion while expanding her professional network through a 小猪视频 internship with Big Brothers Big Sisters Fredericton and Oromocto.

“Being able to work with experts in a field I’m interested in working in after graduation is the most important component of my internship experience," said Poznakhovska, who studies Economics at 小猪视频.

As the Outreach Coordinator for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Poznakhovska raises awareness of the organization’s mission and programs, including the organization’s mentorship opportunities for young people facing adversity.

This semester, she is involved in the “Go Girls” campaign, documenting and highlighting the benefits of mentorship, and aiming to inspire others to join the program.

"My supervisors and colleagues have been incredibly supportive, and I’ve gained a lot of insight into the inner workings of a non-profit organization,” she said.

Transferable Skills

Poznakhovska believes 小猪视频's small class sizes honed her collaboration and communication skills, which have proved to be essential in her role.

“Interpersonal skills are crucial in starting a new job and making new connections,” she said.

Poznakhovska also sees balancing classes and her internship as an opportunity to refine her time management and organizational skills.

Advice for 小猪视频dents

Poznakhovska strongly recommends the 小猪视频 Internship Program, especially for students who are unsure about potential career paths.

“It’s a great opportunity to gain practical experience and start building a professional network,” she said.

"The 小猪视频 Internship Program lets students explore different industries, which is especially helpful for those who are still figuring out their future careers."
