Black History Month Events

February marks Black History Month, and the will be hosting events in collaboration with and members of the community, aimed at promoting awareness and education.

 

The theme for the month is "The Joys of Being Black," with each week focusing on a sub-theme and highlighting individuals in the community. To stay updated, follow the 小猪视频 and pages.

 

Week 1: The joy of being black means I can be inspirational

Thursday, February 1: Opening Ceremony

Sir James Dunn Hall Cafeteria from 12 to 1 PM

 

This launch event will kick off Black History Month with a diverse lineup of speakers discussing the theme of the week, "The Joys of Being Black." Some speakers will focus on allyship and community. The ceremony will be followed by refreshments.

 

Week 2: The joy of being black means I enjoy good company

Friday, February 16: Movie Night

Ted Daigle Auditorium from 7 to 9 PM


A movie will be selected through the poll. Admission to the movie is free, but there will be a food sale outside the auditorium. All proceeds from the food sale will contribute to the Black Student Bursary Fund.

Thursday, February 29: Black Food Fest & Art Expo

George Martin Hall from 6 to 10 PM

 

To celebrate the end of Black History Month, the Black Food Fest & Art Expo will combine a celebration of the black community and culture through art and food. The event will feature an Art Expo & Auction sponsored by the New Brunswick Arts Alliance as well as live performances by local Black artists and allies, including members of the 小猪视频 Jazz Society, M.A.P Dancers, Hero B, and more. While enjoying the art, indulge in diverse culinary delights at the Black Food Fest, including the highly anticipated Ghana & Nigeria Jollof war and other specialties from Team America and Team Caribbean at a fee. The proceeds from the food at this event will support the BSA Bursary Fund for 小猪视频 Black Students.
